Yes, I agree that Qantas are a good airline, but long-haul in economy Air NZ wins. Seat pitch of 31" on Qantas compared with 34" on Air NZ (this is for the 747, can't remember what it is on the 777).
Plus if you want to stretch your budget, Air NZ offer premium economy. No such thing on Qantas.
