Is it possible to book a round trip 'joyride' using just a one-way RR flight coupon?

For example, book a PVD-MDW flight, and then change planes and 'connect' to the next flight back to PVD.

Or as an altenative, how about something like PVD-MDW-Manchester.

In either case, you would use the most direct routing to the airport, so in theory it could work.

Any insight to this theoretical booking?

PVD-MDW-MHT would probably be an open jaw (if Southwest had such things) and would certainly take two coupons. IF (which as was pointed out is unlikely) they allowed this routing as a trip from PVD-MHT one way, it would almost certainly be through BWI, not MDW, as it is far more direct.

Why do you want to joyride on a RR ticket, anyway, if you don't mind my asking?
