I would say the best luxury hotel group all around is the Four Seasons in terms of consistency across properties (yes, there are some that are not as good as others but I have always received great service, ie. FS Houston), the number of properties around the world in key cities and leisure destinations (ie. Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris, etc) which are considered if not the best hotel where they are located but are in the top three, their creative approach in building properties (ie. renovating the Gresham Palace, renovating an old Prison in Istanbul, reinvigorating a Palace hotel in Paris, building a tented camp in Thailand), and finally, their intuitive and warm customer service.

I would say that runner ups would be the Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental, and the Ritz Carlton. The Peninsula has some great properties but has some quite lousy properties like their property in New York. The Ritz Carlton has some great new properties but has some quite unattractive properties such as their hotel in Shanghai or Deaborn.

I am hesitant to say Amanresorts is the best hotel group overall because their approach is quite different than other hotel groups. They occupy a small niche in this segment. They also really only cater to leisure travelers and do not really cater to business travelers. They also only have resorts so far. Amanresorts service is also not consistent across their properties.

I would say that Amanresorts does have some better properties than FS, but in my opinion, the world's leading operator is Four Seasons.
