When someone has "SSSS" on their BP they need to get either a stamp or signature on their BP that they got extra screening. If the OP would have looked (or for that matter if the agents at security would have done their job properly), there would not have been a problem.

Usually you can't ask to have it removed, since there's usually a reason for it. Sometimes they do removie it, although not usually, based on what I have heard.
