I received a Fedex with a lengthy letter ( 5 pages!) that made use of the word "mortified".
I am left with the feeling that the matter was thoroughly investigated, the employee reprimanded yet given a chance to improve. I am fine with that.
I did not want free tickets ( I get so many with my CP, I don't know what to do with them) and did not ask for any but I got some anyway.
The letter also contained a detailed description of possible future boarding procedures, including online boarding passes and gate readers.
In summary, I was impressed by the personal tone of the letter and the goodwill gesture.
