Southwest is also adding additional service in existing markets.
One new daily nonstop between Baltimore/Washington and Austin (for a total of two daily roundtrips).
One new daily nonstop between Baltimore/Washington and Phoenix (for a total of five daily roundtrips).
One new daily nonstop between Baltimore/Washington and San Antonio (for a total of two daily roundtrips).
One new daily nonstop between Baltimore/Washington and West Palm Beach (for a total of four daily roundtrips).
One new daily nonstop between Chicago Midway and Houston Hobby (for a total of three daily roundtrips).
One new daily nonstop between Phoenix and Raleigh-Durham (for a total of two daily roundtrips).
The big surprise to me was that Southwest is also adding two new daily nonstops between Detroit and Phoenix. For years, the only places you could fly nonstop to out of DTW was MDW, BNA, and STL.
In spite of a terminal expansion at DTW a few years ago, which gave Southwest an additional gate or two, DTW hasn't seen any new service until now.
It will be interesting to see how Northwest responds.
