I've stayed at the Hartford & Meriden places. I thought Meriden was ok and had a friendly atmosphere. The Hartford location is awful: it's near nothing, and in my experience the staff was worse than useless in recommending places to find something to eat. (They gave me a Xeroxed sheet that listed a bunch of restaurants and their addresses -- nothing to indicate directions, though. And, it turned out that most of the restaurants were closed on Saturday, when I was there.)

There are 2 properties on the train line to NYC (Stamford and somewhere else), but neither of those seemed to me to be near anything other than suburban office parks or rail stops.
