Since this was a Comair flight, it probably involved a plane with 60 seats or less, in which case no compensation is required.
My recollection (but I can't find the citation for it) is that compensation is also not mandatory when the bump is made for safety reasons (e.g. overweight conditions). Overweight conditions can come up at the last minute due to temperature, weather patterns, need to carry more fuel to reach alternate airports, etc.
If I'm wrong on that 2nd point, and if it was a CRJ-700 (70 pax), then you definitely are entitled to compensation (in cash, if you wish).
If the alternate transportation offerred won't work out, you can insist on a cash refund.
I would suggest you submit your complaint to Delta's (not Comair's) Customer Service along with a polite, succinct statement of the situation and your dissatisfaction. You will quite possibly end up with a $100-200 voucher along with your refund.

The phone reps at Customer Service probably don't have access to the details. It generally takes Delta 5-6 weeks to investigate and respond to this type of complaint.
If you were really due IDB compensation by D.O.T. regulations (see above comments on CRJ-700 & overweight conditions), you also have the option of filing a complaint with D.O.T., which you might wish to do in parallel depending on their deadlines.
