Great way to get new customers?
I've been reading with great interest the turmoil created by the announcements over the past few days for other carriers (it's like a soap opera!! ) and I think it's a great opportunity for Southwest to pick up a lot of new customers. I have gotten the impression that SOOO MANY UA, US, AA etc fliers would fly Southwest but for the open seating (me too) .. so what if they offered the first 5 rows for preassigned seating, with say, a 15% premium over the regular ticket price, and left the rest of the plane as is. Now, the seats in the first 5 rows don't get any special treatment, they are just preassigned and that's it. Best of all worlds?
