Don't forget that every 17" I have found takes more power than in-seat aircraft ports are capable of putting out. You may be limited to charging the battery while the computer is off, maybe running the computer with battery removed, or jsut using it until your battery runs out.
I agree with AF, the big boxes I have used on board often have battery power "trickle down", so I have to remove the battery and just use the power cord.
Otherwise, make sure your carry-on is large enought to handle it.
