I believe the site was www.expertflyer.com, and I also think it's a paid service.

If you have miles enough on any airline, then it really doesn't matter which airline you choose. However, most of us have concentrated on a single airline/alliance, so knowing that award seats are available on BA doesn't do us much good if we're Star Alliance members.

Anyhow, June 2008 is edging close to the 330 day window, so I'd call your preferred carrier as soon as the window opens and work with the CSR for dates and availability on other carriers in the alliance.

Re-reading your post, it's still not clear whether you're looking for paid or award seats.

If it's paid, you're not always better off booking far in advance, depending on what class-of-service you're looking for. Many times, seats open up a month or less from actual flight dates, if you can stand the heart palpitations.

Also, many airlines run coach class sales (although summer is not the best time for them), but they are typically a few months in advance.
