New Delta? Same old Comair

This is my first posting. I apologize if I do not have all of the jargon or location on Flyertalk correct.

I just got home from being bumped from a Comair Flight (HPN-CVG connect to BNA). The problem was that Westchester County was 90 degrees today and the increased weight of the fuel made for an overweight situation. Stuff happens.

The problem is not the cancelation, but the horrible mess we call HPN. This is my home airport and I'm ashamed to admit that my taxes built this gigantic Greyhound station. Forget the crowds, forget the backup going into the boarding area with the 8 gates and 8 different airlines who apparantly don't understand that they are not the only ones who book flights at the same time, it seems that most or none of the airlines actually have an employee there. The outsource it all to an independent contractor who has no connection to the airline. Botton line, since I did not need a hotel room, the attendant had no idea what to do for me. Since the resked would put me at BNA about 15 minutes before my flight back, I decided that I would cancel the meeting.

The woman behind the counter did not know what she should be doing other than put route pairs together and see what would happen in the computer. Something like slot machines. When I asked what the airline would do for me as compensation so I did not have to pay a premium when I resked. I got the quick blank stare then the I'm not authorized to offer compensation. She then gave me the incorrect number for Delta customer service,

It seems that this Punch and Judy show has been well rehearsed, No direct answers, prepaid parking that blames the airlines, airlines that blame the county for delays and the county that thinks it has no responsibility for anything. They built the building so everybody is on their own. However, please make sure all fees are paid in full.

If I can get through to DL tomorrow, does anyone have a suggestion of what I should ask for?

Thanks for letting me air my frustrations. I guess I will give up convienence and go back to B6 at JFK. I have read about all of the problems at JFK but in 25 trips since October, I have only been delayed twice. Never bumped. I guess next week (JFK-SJU) will be the first.
