This time last year I did just that. Went to the Kowloon check-in early in the morning and checked in for the late night BA flight to LHR. No queue at that time of the day and very pleasant staff. Very easy. It was great being able to get rid of my suitcase so early.

Then meandered out to the airport after a day in Hong Kong for a few hours relaxation at the Wing prior to departure.
