We use different vocabularies. I'm trying to tell blooman that those bars are not remotely loungey or club-y. They've got various iterations of the pub ambiance. Some are more upscale than others, but I think they're all pretty boring.

And, yes, I've treated Monkey Bar as my after-work pub It kinda reminds me of the Bull & Bear, actually.

If you're going to go midtown hotel bar, I'd much more quickly recommend the bar at the London or the Hudson, or even the Pen-Top, if you're into Eurotrash.
