I recently travelled to Westbury using Amtrak WAS to New York Penn to Westbury on LIRR and back home. The trip took a very long day. The LIRR is s-l-o-w and unpleasent.

The next day I flew to Houston and back, a thousand miles more distant but much faster and more pleasent.

Even though I was going to Long Island, I was discouraged from flying to Islip primarily because I had another meeting in Manhattan and taking into account the terrible rush hour they said I'd never make it.
