Well, actually, only a slight exaggeration.

The time commitment is huge. BWI Rail Station to Manhattan is about a 2:45 train ride, then 30 minutes to my office, so that's 3:15.

From the office to the LIRR station is about 15 minutes, then an hour on the train, 15 minutes to the airport, then 90 minutes at the airport waiting. That's 3 hours before you get on the plane. Add an hour flight time and another 30 minutes from the gate to the car and it's an easy 4 1/2. This, of course, assumes that there are no other delays.

Back on point, however, if you're coming from PBI on a great fare, comparing to Amtrak, you'd be counting days instead of hours, so the trip into the city doesn't seem nearly so bad!
