I'd just head down to Soho or the West Village and walk around. Lots of 30-somethings leave the city during summer weekends, so plenty of uncrowded bars. East Village is a little more hit or miss, but still plenty of choice.

Avoid the clubs in the West 20s - that's not your demo.
