I had a similar situation in Southern Pines, NC. I booked, through the Diamond Desk, a King Bed non smoking room. I went to use echeckin and was told the system was down. I did not print my confrimation email (lesson learned). Arriving at the hotel I checked in without paying attention to the room type (knowing I had the room i reserved & confirmed - another lesson learned) and went to the room. SURPRISE! 2 double beds and smoking to boot. Back to the desk - where I was told my preferences were for a smoking room (NOT). Anyway I mentioned that I was Diamond and all I got from the clerk was "that just means you stay a lot at Hilton properties". I contatced the Diamond Desk via email and was refunded my money. As of today the points ands stay are still in my account. Let them know...it may pay off.
