If I can't get that special "Smilys" fare, is there any reason to book the trip before getting to Paris? Is there any way to get some discount? Or should I just wait it out?
Thank you!
If you can't get the Smilys fare to Amsterdam, try booking just to Schipol or to Den Haag, then just hang out on the train till it gets into Amsterdam

. The conductors generally check your ticket shortly after leaving Paris and once again when in Belguim but I have never had them check in the Netherlands coming from Paris. The train is painfully slow in the Netherlands so it is good to hear that the tracks will be ready for high speed later this year.
