I recently made three U.S. hotel bookings on my Canadian Amex Platinum card. Amex charged my between 2% and 2.4% above the average daily exchange rate for the dates of the transactions.

This is not a huge amount of money as it amounts to about $20.00 to $24.00 per thousand dollars of transaction. Nevertheless it will add up over time.

Have Canadian travellers found a card that offers a better U.S. dollar exchange rate? I do not travel enough to warrant getting a U.S. dollar credit card.
