I say go for it.
The Venetian Macau is owned/operated by the Sands Corporation (Sands Macau).
If you have ever stayed at the Sands Macau, you know that the rooms/service is excellent. I'm told that a large part of the Sands Macau staff is going to be moving over to the Venetian Macau, so the service should be excellent there as well. I believe that the Venetian Macau is a copy of the Venetian Las Vegas, so the rooms should be very nice as well.
I've stayed at the Westin, Wynn, MO and the Sands on trips over there.
The Westin is nice but far from the city. If you don't plan on leaving the hotel, then the Westin is wonderful, but if you are going to be walking the city and gambling, then I wouldn't stay there.
The Wynn is in the middle of everything. It is gigantic and very nice.
The MO is older. The pool is to die for (if you are going during a non-cold time) and the service is great.
The Sands is awesome (the rooms at the Sands are reserved for Piaza members only - The Piaza Club is an invitation only club in the Sands (It has a private enterance/gaming room). There are only 56 rooms (I think), each one is a suite. All of the rooms have (2) 48' plasmas, a touchpad remote that controls the tv, sound system, dvd player, and lights, and those crazy Automatic Japanese Toto toilets that bidet and everything. The rooms are located on the 4-7 flooors of the building (above the restaurant level and over the casino gaming floor). If you every get invited by a Piaza member to stay at the Sands with them, don't say no!
