I never used to fixate on mileage or status when flying, just get me there as quick as possible for the least amount of money, with the only caveat being the airlines safety record (15 yrs of being an Casualty insurance adjuster makes you realize it has to happen to somebody).
Now I'm flying to Asia, I am spending hours looking at miles, amenities, equipment used, seat pitch, bonus miles, upgrade certs, routings and CPM.
The worst is will I ever be satisfied??? Sitting in the seat while trans-pacific will I be worried I could have done it better, routed through "XYZ" for more miles? The most oppressive feeling is I flew J class to and fro YVR this year, it was sweet and time flew by. I elected to chase status after that experience and with the longest flight of my life ahead of me, that just isn't a reality so I am looking for the most comfortable means to get there while earning enough points to get me past Elite.
Why oh Why did I have to indulge my ocd here!!!????
