I just called MCI and registered. They immediately picked up and said '10000 AA mile offer?" and I said yes...

You may just respond to any future inquiries with:

"You can get a 10000 mile deal (probably for a six month commitment) for American Airlines or Delta Airlines. First try calling (800) 338-0125 for American or 800-215-2920 for Delta. If that doesn't work, try calling their customer service number, (800) 444-3333, navigating to a customer service rep, and asking specifically for the miles. I did that navigation by entering my phone number and selecting the option to cancel my service, but the rep told me that any customer service rep could set you up with the miles. Note: I got this information on 12/21/2001 during the conversation I had with a rep while closing my MCI account. A reader tried to get this deal on the same day, and was told that a 10K deal is only available as a targeted promo from the airlines themselves. If you get this answer, I suggest you talk to a supervisor or call back until you get the answer you want. Another reader told me in February 2002 that he successfully threatened to cancel and was given an offer not to. He says that the Delta number is #ZD4Q, American is #ZA4Q. These are different than the ones I give elsewhere. So try them all until you get what you want. Also, posted on the FrequentFlyerForum: "Ask for Promotion #ZA4Q ... The MCI folks I talked to said that was the "promotion code" to use for the 10K miles deal. If that doesn't work then have them manually look up the deal. They'll find it, eventually."
