Welcome to FT.
Once you get your numbers right (75K for an upgrade), no mention/complaint of co-pay on upgrades, attempting to fly on a miles AAward and then further expect to get an 'upgrade' and finally reading the Membership Guide on aa.com to understand all the many benefits of your PLT status ... then maybe your post will be taken seriously.
In the meantime, if you WANT to upgrade, LEARN HOW THEY WORK. Get a subscription to ExpertFlyer.com and look for the proper inventory.
LEARN about Y/KUP fares that are a good alternative.
DOWNLOAD the travel desk feature or LEARN how to read aa.com for what plane is flying what route.
READ SeatGuru.com to learn what are better seats on what planes.
Oh, and while you have not mentioned it, LEARN about FEBO for your meal service in First.
Enjoy your lack of upgrade capabilities on other carriers - UA and DL. AA's upgrade program is not nearly as horrible as you make it out to be.
Hello and Aloha!
