Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV - news) today announced it will add new nonstop and direct flights between several key cities beginning April 1, 2001. (Direct service involves one or more stops, but no change of planes.)
The new nonstop service includes:
One new daily nonstop flight between Albuquerque and Portland. -- One additional daily nonstop flight between Albuquerque and Orlando
(for a total of two). -- One additional daily nonstop flight between Austin and San Diego (for
a total of two).
One additional daily nonstop flight between Austin and Raleigh-Durham (for a total of two).
One additional daily nonstop flight between Chicago Midway and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood (for a total of two).
One additional daily nonstop flight between Chicago Midway and Las Vegas (for a total of three).
The new direct service includes:
One additional daily direct flight between Orlando and Portland. -- One additional daily direct flight between Raleigh-Durham and San
Diego.
``This new service makes it easier and more affordable for Southwest Customers to make travel plans in the new year,'' said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing. ``These new flights demonstrate Southwest's commitment to add service where our Customers want to go.''
Southwest is introducing the new flights with its regularly low fares and even lower advance purchase fares.
