I got the same offer as I just received a my first Plastic Rapid Rewards card in the mail (although did apply for the card using the telephone number that was listed on another thread here at FlyerTalk).

I do not believe that you have to register for the promotion.

It doesn't say whether this promotion is good for only new members or whether existing members can take part.
