The crew probably will be incoming from another flt/ either that or crew control have had to call out another crew from standby for any number of reasons.

Contrary to popular belief, crew don't want to hold up pax just for the sake of it. Most (well. ok... some!) have lives outside of BA too, and want to get home as soon as pos.... if not quicker.
