This was the only complaint I made to the Service Director I was seated next to on a PVG-SFO flight a year or so back. On this particular flight the FA who made the announcements in Chinese cleary did not speak the language, and I can't imagine what the language proficiency of her colleagues on this flight would be like. Listening to her was sheer torture, for easily half of the passengers on this 747.

Most of the service issues people complain about UA don't bother me much, in any class of service. Being able to communicate with passengers is something that is simply indispensible for any number of reasons: expediency, good will, and SAFETY.
