I did not quite understand the question, but you can book two separate one-ways, you pay just the taxes for one way each. This way one ticket can be regular award the other open miles award. If you feel like taking a risk, you can wait, sometimes they release more award seats near the flight date. If they don't you can get open miles. If you are a bit flexible with the date (one-two days), your chances are higher.
Hi Neuromancer and thanks for your reply.
I was just asking if, based on your experiences, there are chances for me to have some A or O award seats on Sunday July 8th evening or even Monday 9th as I am flexible.
I don't know if this date falls in a "blackout period" in summer actually.
As I said, I'm not really concerned as I still have the Open-miles options for the return (50k in coach) but I would greatly prefer at least a biz or try the new ly-improved First services at CDG.
But does an Open-mile really taken from the Y-fare class quota?
Does it mean that if booked, I am mostly sure to board on the plane?
Otherwise, thanks for answering about the tax question, so only half the tax.
