This craze has passed me by. Or rather, I have passed *it* by -- last Saturday around 8:30 the line for the Pinkberry on W. 32nd, the main drag of NYC's Koreatown, was such a mob that I could barely get down the block. But 100 steps away on the other side of Fifth Avenue, all but deserted, was a place called Crazy Bananas, also serving frozen yoghurt. Vanilla is the only flavor and the free sample was quite tasty: nicely tangy, with a barely icy texture suggesting either low sugar content (confirmed by the taste) or low turnover (also likely, since there were only two other customers in the store). I'll go back but they may not make it through the summer if they don't develop some buzz, which Pinkberry obviously has in spades. Guess I'll have to try them -- provided the line isn't too long.
