I would try for Italy - anywhere near Lucca is wonderful (you could combine it with Rome).

I also really like Spain that time of year - Barcelona would top my list with some travel along the coast and in the Basque country. For fun you could add Ibiza.

Lastly - England is actually also very nice - I especially like London combined with Dorset/Summerset (though it could be wet).

I would not do a cruise (IMO). Not very romantic in my view and you don't get a true local experience. And the food won't even come close to what is on offer in any of these three locations.
