Do you mean that you could hear the flight attendant and cabin announcements to the cabin?

Or that you could hear the ATC communications that the flight crew listens to? If so, what'd they say?

The former is very common, although I've never experienced the latter. I can safely say that I've always avoided the lav on CO ERJs and ATRs, so I wouldn't know. There most certainly isn't any cockpit ATC radio communication in lavs on most large jets.

I'm hoping that you mean the cabin announcements, but fear otherwise.
