We usually left our son in his car seat and just carried him out of the airplane in the seat. Needless to say, we sat in the first row when we did this.
Are you talking about in a car or on the plane? Because there is
no FAA requirement for car seats on a plane, otherwise there would be no free lap children under the age of two.
