You can still check in online when checking bags. You just bring your bags to the designated counter next to the elite checkin area (at least that's where it used to be, I have not checked a bag in a couple years). When you print yur boarding pass, a 2nd page prints showing you where to drop the bags.
Actually, all of the lines were long and people with BPs who were looking just to check in their bags had to get in one of the regular lines because the agents were all tied up with only one Mr. Chicken working. They also tried to direct people downstairs where there are others but the down escalator wasn't working which complicated things.
Despite all that the agent at the counter was very cheerful and when I remarked on how swamped they must feel she replied, "Oh, I like to talk to passengers." ^
