There are 2 separate parts to your father's claim:
1. An Involuntary Refund, calculated as per the terms of UA's contract of carriage (typically 50% of the difference between a R/T J fare and a R/T Y fare). This refund will be payable to the original purchaser (in this case the business).
2. Downgrading Compensation (75% of the price of the ticket for flights of 3500 kms and longer

) as per the Regulation EC 261/2004. This compensation is payable to the PAX.
WOW. I did not know about this rule.
Ok so considering the ticket was $7000. Is it 75% of $3500 (per way) or 75% of the whole 7000?
