Well, as a former resident of the beautiful and wonderful city of Omaha, and having travelled I29 many many many times, I am afraid you will see nothing. And when the nothingness ends, there will be more nothing. Really, there is one town, Missouri Valley (nothing to see there at all) and then you kinda get into a proper city (Sioux City, again, nothing to see there either). It is often affectionately referred to as Sewer City because of the large Hormel plant that makes a rather "unique" smell if the wind is blowing in your direction. Sioux City Airport has just opened a private lounge. If you have a NW WorldClub card, you can enter for free!!! YAHOOOOOO!!!! (there is a reason why it's airport code is SUX)...
In Omaha, if you decide to spend some time, go to the Old Market right downtown. Many great restaurants from Indian Oven (actually great Indian food) to Omaha Prime (for amazing steak) to Butsy LeDoux's for amazing Cajun cooking.
Enjoy!
