It's all in the name...
When the spots on the radar screen weld themselves together, that's when you ask for the "spotwelder".
Aviation safety investigation globally, specialising in airport and ATC related accidents. So that is mid-air collisions, collisions on runways, runway excursions, controlled flight into terrain, wake vortex encounters, windshear blah blah. Also specialise in decision making errors (mainly knowledge based mistakes) by flight crew. TV and radio appearances for nerdy comments on the day of the crash, documentary writing and appearances. Teaching ATC related investigation to others. Airport inspections for governments, airlines, insurance companies etc. Saying the things that the trade wish that I wouldn't. Sometimes work with another well known FTer.
Worst month's travel 63,000 miles, or so some kind soul on FT worked out for me. 40+ RTWs to date. 2 or 3 BA 747s that I have not flown on.
Least favourite airline: the next which requires me to lose a night of sleep in Y
Strangest occurrences on an airliner: watching the person next to me take a knife out and try to take it to the rest room to commit suicide, being woken from F by the flight deck to ask where to divert the aircraft to in order to pick up fuel, putting the handcuffs on pax on two separate trips, waking up next to Angelina Jolie.
Current travel:
N, C and S America and Carib: AA in Y, I only take day flights across the Pond now, too tired to hack another night without sleep.
Europe: BA in Y, or if I can find an I class...
Africa: North Africa, BA in Y, southern africa WTP ex EUR
Asia: QF and hoping to use the miles for UG, ex UK in Y, ex OSL/CPH/ARN in J
Australia, Asia plus day flights on QF or CX in Y.
UK Domestic: Bicycle. Or BA from LGW.
All travel is work related with the exception of the odd trip to the Scottish Western Isles to get away from it all, well except FTers. Maxed out previously on BA, KLM, QF, BMi and SAS top tier with 327 flights in a year. Don't want to spend four nights in a week in a 747 again, or 4 consecutive nights a week in a VS 340.
Never flown with Pucci. I would have remembered, and the therapy is not good enough to allow her to forget.
