Question about Bumping on AC

I am confirmed on an AC flight (booked on UA.com as a codeshare) from YUL-DCA, just prior to a major holiday in Quebec. (AC metal/UA flight number).

I don't know how the flight is selling - but I assume it's overbooked. Before I volunteer to give up my seat (it's the last flight of the night), I have some questions:

1. How does AC's VDB process work? I know that US law requires compensation for being bumped, but does Canadian law?

2. What should I expect (if anything) from AC, if I volunteer to be bumped? I know they'd have to offer me overnight accoms because it's the last flight of the night - but how much (if anything) do they usually compensate? Is it cash or vouchers?

I tried to find this information on Canada's equivalent of the Department of Transportation, and on the AC website, but was unsuccessful.

Any other helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
