As one who has gone through this process more than once, in my experience the only reliable way to talk to a human and try and make them care is to go to the airport. While there were a few occassions where I was actually able to get somebody on BA's lost baggage line, they didn't provide much help. The only way I've been able to get my bags back from BA is to go to the airport and be a pest.
