YYC has decent public transit. The bus runs every half hour from the lower level Transit stop and goes to the Whitehorn C Train station. You can get downtown and to other places from there. You can go to the Mac's in the lower level of the terminal and pickup a day pass for Calgary Transit for $6.75. I believe details on the bus are available off the ground transportation page dealing with YYC. The tourist information booth can outline what to see and do.

Works great if her bags are checked through and has her boarding pass for the next flight already. Did this a few different times using my Welcome Aboard Pass. Hope this helps.
