Hello,
I would just like to say that I worked as a flight attendant for continental for about a year and was making less than 20k. I've been tipped rarely and sometimes it is a little weird because it is unexpected. But we are allowed to take tips and believe me it is greatly appreciated.
It is nice to have even a dollar because that covers the tip for the van driver, and it shows that you are appreciated. No one writes in to say what a great job you did, they only write in to complain about tsomething that may or may not have been in your control and believe me you hear about it.
I'm not saying everyone should feel like they have to tip, but if you think that your crew did a great job give them a couple bucks on the way out, or if someone on the crew went out of their way, write in about it or call customer service. People complain about flight attendants but sometimes I wonder how any of them can do all the things they have to do to do the job well when most of your good deeds go unnoticed.
