The OP said the FA told him "Sorry, they don't cater alcohol for THIS flight", as in for this particular route. Every AE flight is supposed to be catered with alcohol, sodas, water, and the BOB snacks.
And I did say in my previous post, sometimes catering runs out, but it's rare (since not as much alcohol is sold on eagle vs AA).
