Air fares to Asia in general have jumped. Don't know why.
You can book with UA at the higher fare and if the fare drops, you can call UA and have the difference refunded to you in the form of a travel voucher on UA for future travel.
Fares to BKK from the west coast (SFO or LAX) on CX (Cathay Pacific) is under $1,000.00 for the dates you are interested in. You will not be eligible to receive AA miles at that price, but you can receive Asia miles.
