I agree, and I think the blame for keeping it that way should be directed mainly at the larger of the two countries.
A few months ago it looked quite good with Tony Fernandez of Air Asia confident that at least one LCC from each would be given access later this year. This would have been AK themselves from Malaysia and Tiger from Singapore.
However, MH have been forcefully against this all the way and their pressure seems to have paid off. I think the KUL-SIN shuttle is the only regularly profitable route they fly.
It won't really matter from 2008 as there is supposed to be a full ASEAN area Open Skies coming into effect I believe.
