I don't work for the CIA or anything like that. I don't mind polite questions that show an interest in me. If it goes beyond that, I have no trouble cutting off a discussion. (While I happen to teach at a public university now, I felt the same way when I worked in both large and small high-tech firms. I was proud of my employers and what they did, and saw no reason to keep it a secret.)
