Hawaii, I understand is VERY difficult even with status. I haven't tried other than 6 yrs ago got 2 FC for nephew's honeymoon. All I can say for this is try a waitlist, but this route could very well prove near impossible for someone with no status.

Here's what's stupid - Delta continues to pimp its credit card and there seems to be no end to non-flight bonus miles. The other day I got some come-on to earn elite status by flying hardly any miles at all over the next few months. The devaluation problem doesn't seem to have an end in sight. One day hopefully I'll find a decent use for the 120k miles I have left over.
