Maybe it's my North Jersey upbringing chiming in here, but I think the EWR "curtness" that's oft-mentioned by FTers sometimes gets mistaken for rudeness when it's really just an effort to be as upfront and expedient as possible in order to deal with alot of people/flights/issues quickly.
