Visa not required provided:
- continuing to a third country by same or connecting aircraft
within 8 hours of scheduled time of arrival of inbound
aircraft; and
- holding confirmed onward booking and all documents required
for next destination; and
- not leaving the airport transit lounge.
Note: the following restrictions are in place:
- Cairns and Sydney: overnight stays are not permitted;
- Brisbane: passengers waiting to transit will not be permitted
to leave the transit lounge between 1:30am and 4:30am, as no
clearance facilities are available during that period;
- Melbourne: passengers waiting to transit will not be
permitted to leave the transit lounge between 1:30am and
5:00am (approximate times, as these vary according to
schedule);
- Darwin: limited transit facilities are available. Most
travellers will need to transfer to domestic services and
therefore require a visa;
- Adelaide: transit facilities are available only for
passengers arriving and departing to overseas on the same
aircraft. The transit lounge will be made available for
other transit passengers if the airline provides advance
notice;
- Gold Coast: there are no transit facilities available.

Non-compliance with transit regulations will result in penalty
of AUD 5,000.- for carrier.
