I am in the fortunate position of being a Honors Blue with 48K base points for teh past twelve months. I have a three week stay in London at the Metropole in July which should easily qualify me for Gold and get me close to Diamond ( I have further stays in the year that will put me into Diamond easily). I have 9 nights for the past twelve months as well.
My experience last year staying at another London hotel for a couple of weeks was that they charged my credit card about midway through the stay (I guess they are concerned about people doing a runner or having too much "work in progress")
I am wondering two things - first if the Metropole will do this. Is this something common for a Hilton property?
Secondly I am wondering then if they do charge my card does that count towards my stays etc? I am moving on from London to the Double Tree on Lexington and it would be great if that stay could be credited at Gold Level and also get the appropriate upgrade. Similarly - if I am charged after a week that will easily put me into the Gold level and it would be great if that could at least accrue at a igher level. I wouldnt probably push my luck and ask for a room upgrade and extra benefits if it did.
I was just wondering what people's experiencs in this sort of situation were.
