Yep, HKG-SIN on UA895, wouldn't let us bring a can of Coke on board, only things in sealed duty-free bags or the little ziplocks, had tables right where the jetway split to the two doors with security folks hand-searched bags. We boarded very late, I can't imagine how long it takes to board a full 744 to ORD or SFO with that going on.
